Where I Pine About You

Lucy’s parent’s marriage

went missing,

got left behind

in an argument that started

because of something

they can’t remember now.

It made me sweat

because it reminded me of you,

so I called,

even after I said I wouldn’t.

God forbid, I don’t want to end up like them.

Losing love due to negligence,

and being stupid.

So I pine, and give in,

let go, and push all that shit aside.

You are already so rare,

why would I even dare

to pretend that I don’t know that.

When Lucy told me how it ended,

I dropped everything

to make sure you knew

that all that matters is

I love you.
